Water smells in your Bali villa: a useful inspection checklist

Start with what you know

An odor description alone cannot identify what is in the water. Write down a smell already noticed without deliberately inhaling or tasting unknown water. Keep the observation specific: when, where and under which ordinary use conditions.

Make the record specific

A report confined to one bathroom needs a different inspection brief from a change at every cold-water tap. Tell the assessor whether the observation concerns water, a drain or the surrounding room, if that distinction is already clear.

Your observation checklist

• Record hot-water and cold-water observations separately.
• List the outlets affected during ordinary use.
• Collect tank, heater and filter service dates.
• Note recent vacancy, maintenance or supply changes.
