Start before your first night

A listing photograph cannot explain a property's water setup. Ask your host for a short water handover before arrival and keep the answer with your booking details. You do not need technical expertise to ask clear questions.

Send this message to your host

“Could you confirm the drinking-water arrangement and the person to contact if something changes?” Then ask:

1. Which water is intended for drinking?
2. Which kitchen outlet or dispenser should I use?
3. Is ice made from that same intended drinking supply?
4. Where can I obtain replacement drinking water?
5. What should I use if the intended supply is unavailable?
6. Who maintains the dispenser or treatment unit?
7. Where are the last service details recorded?
8. Whom should I contact about a change in color, odor or flow?
9. May I authorize any work, or must the owner approve it?
10. Are there access or outage instructions I should know?

Keep uncertainty practical

Do not infer drinking suitability from clear water, a familiar neighborhood or a filter label. General CDC travel guidance favors sealed drinking water when the tap supply is uncertain. This guide does not assess a specific rental or replace current local guidance.

Keep a usable record

Save the host's answer and the contact person's name. If something changes, report the outlet, time and observation without guessing the cause. Avoid sharing passport details, medical histories or exact property access instructions in a public review.
